Welcome to the future of work

Now we know for a fact. According to the Prime Minister the Tories want to renegotiate our membership of the EU in order that they can remove all workers rights. I have been warning that the Tories are bent on introducing modern forms of slavery and we now have confirmation. Cameron wants a 'flexible' labour market. What this means is that he wants employers and managers to exercise complete control of the workplace and prevent any worker input completely. If the British people go down this route and submit to Daily Mail and Express propaganda then they will take the consequences in the future. Workers will be stripped of all negotiating rights and will lose pensions, holiday pay, shift allowances etc. and will be criminalised if they take any action to counter such actions by employers. The Tories plan to outlaw the strike weapon, one of the few human rights left to working people to protect their terms and conditions. If you are forced to work in whatever conditions and for whatever form of terms of employment that the employer sees fit, and you are then prevented from organising for any kind of meaningful change, then that is a form of slavery. Another  change coming is the removal of any form of benefit that you may have if you take industrial action, in other words, you will have no power to control your working life whatever. Make no mistake, this is what looms. You have been warned.

Wisdom from an unlikely source

There is a very interesting and illuminating article in the Guardian by Kevin McKenna a self-confessed unionist, anti-nationalist and Labour supporter, in which he states that independence for Scotland is fast becoming the only option due to the greed and corruption of the Westminster elite and system and states that it is increasingly difficult to find reasons why Scotland should remain within the United Kingdom. In his article McKenna states that
"London has already broken away from the United Kingdom and now exists as a world super-state governed by the greed of unhindered capitalism and recognisable as British only by its taxis and bad service."

This is quite remarkable honesty from an opponent of Scottish nationalism as he goes on to define why he has reached such conclusions. It is actually very refreshing for someone like this to admit to having made mistakes in their political analysis of events. What is also revealing is his conclusion that Labour simply haven't a clue and are being eclipsed by Alex Salmond and his team.

What is clear is that the UK is in terrible trouble and are governed by an incompetent class ridden elite who not only have no idea how the majority of the British people live, but couldn't care less. The three major parties are led and staffed by characters straight out of PG Wodehouse. The difference is that Wodehouse's characters are completely stupid but harmless, whilst our political leaders are completely stupid but dangerous. I have mentioned the benefit and back to work assessors ATOS and how they are quite simply responsible for people dying, so we must never forget that they were originally hired by Labour and that appalling Yvette Cooper. In Scotland the Labour leader Johann Lamont has been chuntering on about the need to tackle the something for nothing benefits culture. How can the Scots be expected to vote for imbeciles like that? I attended a clinic in my local hospital today and couldn't help remarking that if the NHS continues its creeping privatisation under such people, most of the people attending clinics like that will, in future, simply suffer their ailment, rather than seek treatment, as they will not be able to afford it. That will not happen in Scotland

Modern politics is simply incompetent

Politics must be concerned with the secure, safe and peaceful living of those that are encompassed by any political authority. Thus, the first and most important function of any political authority must be to make people’s lives as ‘good’ as possible with respect to safety, security and peace. This of course is a moral purpose and therefore demands an ethical approach from government. However, the concept of good in such a political context must not be determined by government or politicians and must be a reflection of the normative order that exists within any given society, as 'good' is a relative concept. That said, if we try to develop a theoretical model of the purpose of politics and political action, then we have already accomplished it as politics has no other role or function outwith securing and maintaining the good of the people.

As people are all different, and have diverse talents and desires, the aim of politics must be to provide the parameters for each person within any given society to achieve as much of their potential for success and happiness as is possible. This of course requires politics to ensure that no individual, institution, or corporate body causes unnecessary harm to another as far as possible. That may appear to be extremely idealistic, and may even appear to be impossible, but if that is not the ultimate goal of political behaviour then it is meaningless.

As a result, modern British government is evil in the properly understood meaning of that term. For example, the Conservative Party, as a corporate body, openly displays a complete indifference to poverty, to the damage inflicted on individuals and communities by its policies, or to human suffering generally. The Conservatives were party to the biggest financial crisis in the nation’s history, and, when taking office in the midst of this crisis, proceeded to successfully shift the blame for the financial crisis onto its victims whilst refusing point blank to hold the guilty to account. The financial crisis had three basic causes. Banks were lending far too much money with little or no reserves in hand to support them if something went wrong, people were borrowing far too heavily on the assumption that their assets, particularly the value of their homes, would continually increase, and governments were borrowing far too heavily on the assumption that their incomes from tax receipts would similarly continue to increase. All those causes were a form of gross incompetence by bankers, property owners, and politicians, but it is the people on welfare benefits and low pay who are being made to take the blame and bear the brunt of other peoples greed and incompetence.

The Conservatives deliberately frame national policy to transfer wealth from the poorest sections of society to the richest. They quite deliberately create poverty within the majority of the population, in order to create wealth for a minority. They systematically deprive the poorest sections of society of the little that they have in order to create the conditions within which such people will take whatever form of employment is available at whatever conditions. They are systematically creating new forms of slavery. As I'm sure readers of this blog are by now fed up hearing, this situation cannot continue for much longer and you should brace yourself for the coming storm.

We pay your benefits, oh do you really?

Margaret Thatcher can now finally look back and take great pleasure in her most cherished dreams coming true, the welfare state is finally dead. Oh it will stagger on for a few years in its shredded state until it finally collapses but her attempts to kill it off and demonise all welfare recipients as shirkers and scroungers have finally been realised by her devoted successors.

The English people will bear a heavy burden for their adoption of the neoliberal agenda and all that it will entail for them, but if that is their choice, then so be it. I say the English because the Scots are far too intelligent to go down the same route and I am confident that this legalised criminality by successive governments will result in Scottish independence. The Tory hatred of the poor and their open loathing of the working class have reached levels that are hard to understand. They not only despise the poor, but they also fear them. England has gone back into the Victorian mentality that Disraeli described as Two Nations. This time, however, the poor and the deprived will not simply doff their caps and wait for the crumbs off their masters tables, there will be widespread repercussions. The free market economic system has been the fundamental cause of Britain's troubles. The free market has failed and was always going to fail in its present form as it is an illusion and cannot work. But the British elite's remedy for free market failure is more free market medicine. You see it has not failed the elite, it has worked wonders for them. I have warned before on this site that the Tories have a longterm goal of reintroducing forms of slavery into British society and we see this coming to pass. If you are being forced to work in a job you do not want to work in, either for no money, or for minimum benefits that you are threatened with losing if you do not accept the work, then you are not free and are being coercively forced and threatened. If that is not a form of slavery then I do not know what it is. The British public are being forced to turn to food banks and handouts in order to survive, in the fifth richest country in the world. Bankers are being given bonuses, six years into the financial crisis that their incompetence and criminality caused, that are the equivalent of a lottery win every year. People are dying in  our hospitals because of government policies and private firms are making fortunes out of exploiting the opportunities that governments have opened up for them in health. Private provision grows, deaths and disasters multiply.

Our education system is similarly stricken and is on its knees. The solution? More private provision. The real culprits are the Tory supporting newspapers who churn out their hatred of the poor, immigrants, benefit scroungers, Muslims, and the disabled on a daily basis, and the general public lap it up. Nothing like a good scapegoat to get the juices flowing at the teabreak and down the pub eh? I was disappointed, but not particularly surprised when the crowd in the Alexandra Palace in London at the World Darts Championship were chanting 'We pay your benefits' to all the rest of the country. What does worry me is that these people genuinely believe that. The reckoning is coming, I just hope you are ready for it as a country, and remember you read it here first.
